Information For New Members
Being a member of Furzeley Golf Club you are very welcome to join the Ladies Section.We are a group of ladies run by a small committee and are always happy to accept new players of any standard.However, you will need a handicap.
Furzeley Golf Course is not registered with England Golf and so players are not able to receive a WHS handicap. The Ladies Section run their own handicap system, a simplified version of WHS, to enable our players to enjoy a competitive environment. The course original EG assessment gave a Course Rating of 63.7 and a Slope Rating of 102, so these values are used for players joining us with a WHS Handicap Index. All other new players must have 3 cards marked by another member to receive their handicap. All members are requested to hand in at least 3 cards during the year (March – October).
The ladies meet on Friday mornings at 9 am for the first tee off time of 9.30 am. This is when roll-ups, Stableford and medal games are played. We also play a 9 hole Fun Game on the last Wednesday of the month starting at 10.00 am.
Information about all the games is posted on the ladies’ cloakroom and we ask all members to check this regularly and sign up if you are interested in playing. The Secretary / Nominated Person usually sends out teams prior to Friday so you are aware of the order of play. (This is usually advised on Thursdays during the summer months with a general roll-up during the winter months).
We also have a programme of all our events, club competitions, and fixtures against other clubs where we play friendly matches.
We ask for a small subscription (at present £2 a month) which is used to cover the ladies group expenses, e.g. awards, cards, Christmas subsidies for lunch and staff Christmas boxes etc. This can be paid 6 monthly or annually in advance.
